A day after the video of a road-side Soda/Sherbat seller in Ahmedabad using toilet water for making the cold drinks become viral on social media, the health department of AMC today conducted sudden checks on a large number of such soda/sherbet vendors and collected samples for lab tests.
An official of the AMC said that various teams of the health department collected water and other samples from the road-side vendors selling soda/sherbets.
He said that samples were collected from a large number of such vendors in South, North and Eastern zone of the city today and almost all such vendors would be covered in next few days.
‘The samples collected have been sent for laboratory test. If the samples were not found in order, strict action would be taken against them. No one can be allowed to play with the health of people,’ he said.
He said that the water samples of road-side chat and bhel etc sellers would also be checked in due course.
Notably the video of a soda seller in Panchkua area of the city taking water from a public toilet had gone viral yesterday.
