Gujarat CM’s message to citizens on occasion of Gujarat Formation Day

Gandhinagar: Even as Gujarat enters 59th year of its foundation on Tuesday, Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani today call upon people of the state to build a new Gujarat and new Gujarat.

Mr. Rupani appealed to each and every citizen to keep up the legacy of Gujarat’s journey of development and make it brighter with a strong co-operation.

Congratulating one and all, he said, “We are all contributing in making of a New India by doing our bit for the development of Gujarat.” He appealed to everyone to join hands for the Sujalam Sufalam Yojana for water conservation and make a safe future for the coming generations.

Extending heartfelt wishes on behalf of his cabinet, he talked about the initial days when Gujarat was recognized as a separate state in 1960 as a part of the Mahagujarat Andolan under the leadership of Revered Induchacha and various other brave and visionary leaders who fought for the pride and glory of the state.

It is because of the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Ravishankar Maharaj, Induchacha and a lot of other leaders that we are able to witness the development of Gujarat in the last five decades.

There is a great deal of contribution of each and every person in the journey of development of the state. Today is the day to thank and recognize the contributions of everyone. I am indebted to each and everyone for instilling faith in us in the last 22 years and giving us the opportunity to serve you.

Carrying forward the mantra of ‘Sauno Saath Sauno Vikas’, we have always ensured to have a sustainable and holistic development which can reach to the last man standing. The development of Gujarat has caught the eyes of one and many across the globe. Under the leadership of the son of Gujarat Mr. Narendrabhai Modi, everyone is able to witness an era of unprecedented growth and development which is creating a New India with hopes for a brighter future. Let us walk on his path and be instrumental in creating a New India by taking an oath for a New Gujarat.

We are constantly working towards ensuring prosperity in each and every corner of the state. When we measure the development of a nation or a state, we measure it in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) wherein industry, services and agriculture play a major role in influencing the percentage of the same. Since 22 years, the state has been marching towards development with a holistic approach. With the development of industries, there have been employment opportunities and increase in the standard of living. The development of agriculture has improved the rural economy thereby making lives better for each and every section of the society.

Two decades ago, it was not possible to talk about industrial development in any city of the state and today, Gujarat is known as the ‘Global Gateway of India’ worldwide. Summits like the Vibrant Gujarat with its 23 (approx.) business friendly policies have made Gujarat the best destination for investment. The state is also known as the manufacturing and automobiles hub. International finance and stock market companies have come in GIFT city on the banks of Sabarmati River leading to establishment of international business and transactions. This will create more employment opportunities for the youth in the days to come.

Dholera will have the World’s largest Solar Park with a capacity of 5000 Mega Watts along with various other business activities. The Dholera SIR will emerge one and a half times larger than Singapore.

The coming Vibrant Summit will portray Dholera as an emerging economic hub which will bring to life the Dholera-Bhavnagar-Pimpli route with various economic opportunities and benefits. There has been a 33% increase in the value addition of the industrial sector of the state. The Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in the state from 2013-2017 have quadrupled.

The state of Gujarat has been at the top in providing employment. Gujarat has the lowest ratio of unemployment when we compare it with other big states. Through initiatives like Start-up India and Stand-up India, the youth of the state is no more a ‘job seeker’ but a ‘job giver’. The employment offices have provided employment to an approximate of 3.5 lakh youths. We have also started the Mukhyamantri Apprenticeship Yojana in order to give training to the youth alongwith employment wherein 1 lakh youths will be benefitted from the same.
Apart from being a centre of industrial activities, the state has ushered in the tourism sector too. The tourism growth of the state is double than the country’s growth of tourism. 4.5 crore (approx.) tourists have visited the state last year. The tourism industry has been instrumental in providing employment to one and all, from businessmen to the poor and the last man standing.

Brothers and sisters, developments of industries, augmenting farmers and farmings, we are marching ahead with adoption of concept of ‘if farmers are rich then villages are rich too, villages are rich then cities are rich’. For last two decades, Gujarat has attained double digit growth rich in farming. State’s farming area is 125-lakh hectares. To yield more crops using less water, ‘per drop, more crop drip’and micro irrigation systems have been adopted in 15-lakh hectares of farm land. The government is taking care of both, farmers and farming. Under the SAUNI YOJNA’ the Narmada waters is being supplied up to Kutch and for north-Gujarat we are using ‘Sujalam Sufalam’ Yojna. Under the SAUNI Yojna over 115 water bodies are being connected to Narmada. The government is determined to give sufficient supportive prices to the farmers for their crops. Our slogan is ‘Kisanone Sahi Dam’ (Right prices to the farmers). The government is buying crops groundnuts, raido, chana, wheat and other crops at the supportive prices, total amounting to over 5,000-crore. The government has made sufficient allocation of funds in the budget for taking care of cattle breeders. For treatment of sick-animals ambulances have also been arranged. A month long Sujalam Sufalam Jal Yojna, covering period from May 1-30, has been launched to deepen the water bodies across the state to store rain waters.

Let’s put joint efforts on 58th Gujarat Formation Day for the success of Sujalam Sufalam Yojana. To convert salty waters into sweet waters a desalination plant has been set up near Jodia at a cost of Rs. 600-700-Crore.
Brothers and sisters, Narmada is lifeline of Gujarat. This summer neighbouring Madhya Pradesh state has received less water due to insufficient rainfall, as a result Gujarat has received less water in Narmada. However, our well planned advance planning has ensured that we have sufficient drinking and irrigation waters. In coming days we have to advance Gujarat in every field ranging from education, health, infrastructure development, etc. we have to take care of all – deprived, suppressed, exploited, poor, rural areas with a well balanced development.

Gujarat is doing well with it success mantra of ‘collective efforts, inclusive growth. However, few elements are attempting to disturb the communal harmony of Gujarat and spreading hatred. But, peole of Gujarat should keep their head in balance to foil such elements.

Brothers and sisters, government is constantly working for the poor. As Mr. Narendrabhai has said the government is putting emphasis on three things – education, income and medicine. For providing education at cheaper price, we have introduced the fee control act, we have made management to provide employment to all, and providing medicines and making operations at cheaper prices, we have Amrutam Yojna, in which state government will pay expense up to Rs. 3-lakh, it covers senior citizens having annual income less than Rs. 6-lakh. Rs. 80,000 for knee replacement.

The government is also serious about law and order situation in Gujarat. For this, the police force is being upgraded with latest technology and large number of new personnel has been recruited. We have ensured that people get passport easily and police make home delivery. To trap the criminals and law breakers, police have installed large network of CCTV cameras. In many cases, police have solved the cases within 36-hours from their occurrences and have arrested the culprits.

In a bid to fight out corruption, we have adopted a zero tolerance policy towards corruption, having created a system in which none need to pay even a rupee as bribe. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is being equipped with the latest technology and efficient staff, including legal experts, to catch corrupt officials

Brothers and sisters, development has been our soul, inspiration and passion and behind the number of decisions, projects and programmes we have launched to take Gujaratis ahead, in the time to come, to reach the pinnacle of success. Gujarat is the land of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Shymaji Krishna Verma. It has been enriched by Narsinh Mehta, Kavi Narmad, Pramukhswami, Hemachandra Acharya, Morari Bapu, Rameshbhai Oza, tribal’s leader revolutionary Govind Guru, Dalit leader Megh Maya, Sadaram Bapu, Morarji Desai and Narendrabhai Modi.

Extending his hearty greetings on Gujarat Gaurav Divas once again, he asked one and all to be soldiers of development and jointly take Gujarat’s pride and esteem to greater heights, overflowing with ‘Gujaratipanu’.

Jai Jai Garvi Gujarat … Jai Jai Garvi Gujarat!
