Letter of Ahmed Patel to PM on bullet train land acquisition shows his intention to stall development: CM Rupani

Gandhinagar:
CM Vijay Rupani today alleged that the letter of Rajya Sabha MP Ahmed Patel to PM Narendra Modi on Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet train project land acquisition issue showed his intention to some-how stall the development process.
Notably, senior Congress leader Patel has written the letter to PM seeking his intervention in the land acquisition process. He has raised objection to the alleged acquisition of land under modified version of the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
Rupani told newsmen that the government was following all the rules with regard to land acquisition and was moving ahead to provide adequate compensation as per law for the same.
‘But such things (writing letter to PM) were just meant to somehow obstruct the development process. It has been done with that intention. The government will give full compensation to those whose lands would be taken for the project,’ he said.
Notably the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) and the district officials are in the process of acquiring land from farmers in several districts of South and central Gujarat for the bullet train project.
Our objective is not to obstruct the project the government is undertaking. But in the process of building a bullet train one can’t bulldoze the constitutional rights of farmers pic.twitter.com/pxw2CTGM1X
