Son of Gujarat completes four years as PM, far longer period compared to earlier Gujarati PM Morarji Desai; Gujarat Congress protests titling it as Vishwasghat Diwas, fields Narmada tweet row fame Rajiv Satav to lead it

Ahmedabad:

Son of Gujarat, Narendra Damodardas Modi completed four years as Prime Minister of India. This is far longer time in power compared to earlier Gujarati Prime Minister Morarji Desai. There was a time when Gujarat Chief Ministers would not get appointment to meet the Prime Minister in Delhi. Here’s the day when Prime Minister is himself Gujarati. Not just that, ruling party’s president is also a Gujarati. Under their rule, India has achieved newer and newer successes. Party has spread its influence to newer territories. Corruption on top level in Delhi has not been an issue, which is sea change compared to previous government.

The Congress party, obviously to play its role as leading opposition marked this day as ‘Vishwasghat Diwas’ (Betrayal Day) and organized dharna(sit-in) at Kochrab ashram of Mahatma Gandhi in Paldi area of Ahmedabad. The protest was led by state Congress in-charge Rajiv Satav who was recently in controversy for deleting his tweet supporting anti-Narmada dam activist Medha Patkar. Satav was joined by GPCC president Amit Chavda, Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani, Rajya Sabha MP Madhusudan Mistry, former president Siddharth Patel and several other party leaders.

On the occasion Chavda told media persons that Modi government has failed on all fronts and was trying to defame congress to hide its failures.

Party leaders across the state also held various protest events on the occasion.

In Vadodara the city unit of Congress flew black balloons on the occasion on a day when CM Vijay Rupani was in the city.

In Rajkot city party leaders led by Rajyasabha MP Amiben Yagnik also hold protests. Yagnik on the occasion said that Modi government was merely a government of slogans. It has only waived off loans of Industrialists while the plight of farmers has worsened. Number of unemployed people has increased in four years and on the border situation has worsened too.

In Surat city Congress leaders and workers protested with black ribbons tied on the hand and head. They also shouted anti government slogans for constantly rising prices of petrol and diesel.

Similar protests were also held at several other places across the state as part of the national event of the party today.

At some places including Modasa in Aravalli district of North Gujarat police had to detain scores of unruly Congress workers during the protests.
