Senior leaders are sidelined and neglected, I have sought time to meet Rahul Gandhi next week: Kunvarji Bavalia

Rajkot: Congress leader and Jasdan MLA Kunvarji Bavalia is upset again with his party. Bavalia is going to hold a gathering of his community members from two talukas in his stronghold Jasdan in Rajkot district on June 24. Bavalia says this sammelan will be held to sort out differences within Koli community prevailing in his constituency area. Balavia said the gathering is social and not political. Bavalia told media persons that senior leaders in Congress were sidelined and ignored. He said he has sought appointment of party’s national president Rahul Gandhi on 25-26 June to make representation on this issue. Balavia said he is president of Koli community’s top organization nationally and therefore he would meet Rahul Gandhi with Koli community leaders from poll-bound states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Bavalia is believed to be upset with party since long time. He has made his displeasures public at various occasions in the past. Rumours were always in circulation that Bavalia would join the BJP, however Bavalia denied such rumours and stayed in Congress party. It has to be seen, whether Balavia is building pressure over party before his possible meeting with Rahul Gandhi or he is really in mood to do something new.

Bavalia refused to disclose his future plan and said the next steps will be thought about at appropriate time.

Bavalia has been Congress’s successful Lok Sabha candidate in the past. He was upset with party previously due to no cabinet berth in the centre to him, no upper hand in Rajkot unit of party against rival Congress leader Indranil Rajyaguru, lack of appointment on important posts such as state party chief and leader of opposition. General elections of Lok Sabha are scheduled to take place next year.
