Disappeared Congress Corporator Ankit Barot, re-appears, alleges abduction on relatives of BJP MLA

Gandhinagar: The Congress corporator of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, Ankit Barot who had mysteriously gone missing since yesterday evening, today appeared suddenly near Chiloda here and claimed that he was abducted by relatives of BJP MLA Ashok Patel.
Barot, due to absence of whom the general body meeting of GMC saw a highly chaotic scene, reached the SP office here file a case in this regard.
Talking to newsmen he alleged that the maternal brother of BJP MLA Ashok Patel, Ketan Patel and his brother Girish Patel had come to his place and took him along. He was later taken to Dhansura in Aravalli district in North Gujarat and today he was brought and left near Chiloda.
He claimed that the BJP had earlier tried to break him away from Congress and offered Rs 15 to 20 lakhs and post of Standing committee chairman in the GMC. ‘It was offered two three times but I refused saying that I am in Congress and remain with it,’ he claimed.
He said that he knew Ketan and Girish personally, both of whom betrayed him by abducting him.
Barot said that he remembers all the route through which he was taken to Dhansura and handed over to a criminal gang. The CCTV footage of the toll points could confirm the route. His phone was also taken away. He had somehow got it in the night and made a call to a corporator which could not be completed as they came to know about it and snatched the phone again.
Notably Congress had filed a complaint last night in sector 21 police station in this regard. The party during the GMC general body meeting also said that he has been abducted.
