Bharuch Municipality alters old GSRTC buses to use them as shelter homes for poor

Bharuch: Municipality in Bharuch today launched two ‘shelter on wheel’ buses here for use as shelter for homeless people.
The buses were old and improper for use for long journey. They were owned by State govt. arm Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation(GSRTC). They were altered for use as shelther houses. Altering cost for each of two buses was rs 4.50 lakh. Lights fans, sleeping facilities were added to old passenger buses among other changes.
Each bus has sleeping facility for 10 persons. The buses are stationed at bus parking plot of municipality opposite Bharuch railway station. Municipality is also providing blanket and beds for its users. Buses will also have CCTV. Beneficiary poor people will also get meals at Deendayal Bhojanalaya. They shall undergo medical checkup once every fortnight according to municipality president Surbhi Tamakuwala. She said Bharuch will also have a permanent shelter home in next six months period.
