“It’s Kapil Sibbal,Ahmed Patel’s conspiracy,”alleges Maya Kodnani

Former Gujarat minister Mayaben Kodnani accused in 2002 riot case today categorically named Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibbal and social activist Teesta Setalvad behind the formation of Special Investigation Team(SIT) while talking to media in Ahmedabad court campus when she was being escorted to police vehicle after court order.

“This is a conspiracy to stop the progress of Gujarat.To tarnish the image of Gujarat Kapil Sibbal and Teesta Setalvad had orchestrated the formation of SIT,” Ms. Kodnani alleged after coming out of the court.

“Ahmed Patel (Congress leader) is also involved in giving a bad name to Gujarat,” Ms. Kodnani said after she was prompted by co accused Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Jaydip Patel who was standing besides her.

Earlier Ms. Kodnani, accused in the Naroda Gam and Naroda Patiya riot case, and Mr. Patel, accused in the Naroda Gam case, were produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate G M Patel after their police custody ended on Saturday.

The Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the cases submitted before the court that they needed custody of Ms. Kodnani in the Naroda Patiya case.

The court sent Ms. Kodnani to 24-hour police custody in Naroda Patiya case. The SIT is likely to ask for her further remand on Sunday.
