Students boycott education in 8 villages of Gujarat

Children of Gokalpura village near Sanand started boycotting their village school to protest Gujarat government’s land acquisition notification.
On Monday, none of the 337 students appeared in Gokalpara’s primary school, according to Principal of the school Shri Kamleshbhai Solanki.
Farmers including Gokalpara’s Sarpanch Bhuriben Dahyabhai, Taluka Panchayat member Vinuben Rameshbhai, Kamashibhai patel, Rameshbhai B Patel, Valjibhai, Dahyabhai, Chehubhai, Shivabhai, Mathurbhail, Tribhovanbhai, Naranbhai patel, Chandubhai Patel had informed about their new way of protest in writing to Sanand Taluka Panchayat on Monday.
Gokalpara’s farmers said their land is everything for them and if government wants to snatch away their land then they are not interested in any service in which the government is involved, including school education.
It should be mentioned here that Gujarat government’s Industry department arm GIDC(Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) is in process to acquire thousands of acres of land presently belonging to farmers of eight villages of Sanand area. The villages – Bol, Charal, Maliya, Hirapur, Gokalpara, Shiyavada are located near Tata Motors Nano plant.
Not only Gokalpara but all eight villages are joining ‘Boycott the school’ agitation from Tuesday(today).
