There are 1160 leopards, 293 sloth bear in Gujarat

The population of leopards has increased by 8.41% in last five years in Gujarat.
Shri S.K.Nanda, Principal Secretary, Environment and Forest department, and Pradip Khanna, Chief Forest Conservator, Government of Gujarat today announced that as per the figures available from three-day census of leopards and sloth bear in Gujarat between 16-18 May this year, there are 1160 leopards (up from 1070 in 2006) and 293 sloth bears(up from 247) in the state.
