Narendra Modi to dedicate Banas-3 complex

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate Banas-3 complex of Banas dairy and will perform ground breaking of a 100 metric tonne milk powder manufacturing plant at north Gujarat’s Banas dairy campus on 28 June.
The new proposed milk powder plant will be erected at a cost of Rs. 110 crore. It will process daily 8 lakh liter milk. It will be capable of making 40,000 metric tone butter and 50,000 liter ice cream per day. Thus Banas dairy will be able to process daily 22 lakh liter milk combine in old and new both the plants. The dairy has also planned to develop machinery to produce 25 metric tone Cheese and 20 tone Paneer everyday.
According to the chairman of Banas Dairy Shri Parthibhai Bhatol, Banas dairy, no. 1 in Asia and considered to be the lifeline of farmers of Banaskantha District started in 1966 by Nanji Patel in Narasal village of Vadgam Taluka used to handle daily 5000 litres of Milk in those years. Today the Banas Dairy handles more than 25,00,00 litres of milk daily and has an income of Rs 2265.13 lakh. It is targeted that by the year 2020, the quantity of milk handled by the dairy will reach 50,00,000 litres. The milk is received from the 750 villages in Banaskantha District via a bulk cooler. The Banas Dairy is not only involved in milk but also in manufacturing of milk products and also to raise the standards of the manufacturers who depend on it. Out of 1900 crore worth business, about 2265 crores reach to those involved in animal husbandry.
The people responsible for the thriving development of Banas Dairy are 3.50 lakh members of 1368 co-operative organizations who produce milk.
