Can shoes be made out of newspaper? Oh yes, you need to watch this video featuring a young chinese designer Yang Guang who recycles old newspapers into handmade fashionable shoes.
Yang Guang, a university student from Nanjing City in Jiangsu Province who employs more than 200 workers also sells such shoes in the U.S. and Europe.
There’s no leather in such shoes and flexible cotton thread is used along with the folded newspaper strips as main material.
Yang’s factory is able to produce an average of five thousand pairs of newspaper shoes a month, all made to order.
They sell for 150 to 200 yuan in China, which is $23 to $31. But they can go for as much as $150 abroad.
