A video Shweta Bhatt sent to Chidambaram claiming that ‘Sanjiv Bhatt is being treated like a terrorist’

Ahmedabad, 6 October, 2011
When suspended IPS Sanjiv Bhatt’s wife called media persons on Wednesday at her home to take away a CD showing Sanjiv Bhatt in Gaekwad haveli lock up, it was guessed that the CD would have some revealing shots featuring unfair treatment to Bhatt by police.
However looking at the footage of CD(captured probably by a mobile camera), there’s nothing much to substantiate the claim that Bhatt was treated badly after his arrest in police lock up.
The video shows a visit to lock up by Bhatt’s family to give him basic things that he might needed in lock up and later eventually in custody.
One of the persons with Bhatt’s family(Shwetaben’s brother Neel Shal and others) visibly Muslim tells a constable that he should vacate his bed for Bhatt as later is IPS officer.
Same person expresses worry about how suspended officer has been kept in lock up.
This is the CD that Sanjiv Bhatt’s wife Shweta Bhatt sent yesterday to central Home minister P.Chidambaram in annexture to her letter, to back her claim that Bhatt was treated like a terrorist. However CD offers nothing nothing, absolutely nothing like Bhatt was treated like terrorist.
Shweta Bhatt in her letter writes to Chidambaram: The manner in which the Crime Branch Ahmedabad kept my husband on Friday night in a fingy filth stinking room in the Gaekwad Haveli lock up was shocking. He was in a room with hardened criminals and the room was so far and inaccessible and locked three times. My husband is not a criminal or a serial offended why is he being treated like a terrorist. No water or food was allowed him. He was thrice locked in.
It should be mentioned that Ahmedabad police’s Crime Branch has this lock up located in Gaekwad Haveli. Bhatt was kept there post his arrest for less than 24 hours before he was produced to court. The court sent Bhatt to Sabarmati jail where he is spending his days and nights currently.
Bhatt was arrested for criminal case and why his family should insist that he should be kept not in such lock up!
It is obvious that lock up of city crime branch should be at inaccessible location. The gates can be locked three times or one time, what makes difference? Shwetaji has every right to believe that her husband is not a criminal or a serial offender, the records and history of charges on the contrary present grey picture, ranging from cases against Bhatt filed in Porbandar to Jamjodhpur to Rajasthan and Ahmedabad.
While majority of media has selected to publish a headline quoting Shwetaben’a letter to central Home minister that Bhatt is being treated like a terrorist, and while Shwetaben has enclosed the video presented above with her such claim put before the central Home minister, we didn’t find anything atleast in this video that could back her claim.
