Coast Guard Ship C-153 to be commissioned at Porbandar tomorrow

Indian Coast Guard Ship C-153 will be commissioned at Porbandar on Saturday to enhance the security along the Gujarat coast. A Defence Ministry statement said Vice Admiral Anil Chopra will commission the last and eleventh interception boat built by the ABG Shipyard for the Coast Guard. The boat will be deployed at Veraval Port after induction.
The interceptor boat C 153 is fitted with latest state-of-the-art navigation, communication equipment and armament making it an ideal platform for close coastal operations.
The release stated that the Government has sanctioned necessary funds to the Coast Guard for new acquisitions. All pending cases of acquisitions are being cleared by the Central Government on a fast track for protecting the country from the threat emanating from the seas.
With the establishment of all sanctioned stations, the Indian Coast Guard will have 42 stations and 15 Air units functioning at various strategic locations along the coastline.
