A horrifying incident in US based NRI Gujarati restaurant(Video)

San Diego, California, 5 December, 2011

California based Gujarati NRI Raj Patel had not imagined that such thing could happen to his restaurant one day!

At 2 pm on Friday, Raj Patel, owner of the Miramar restaurant at Surati Farsan Mart on Black Mountain road of Artesia saw a car suddenly entering into his restaurant. A car literally plowed into a restaurant, hitting one customer who was walking out the door and two others who were seated. A third woman was pushed aside by the impact holding her knee in pain.

The interesting aspect of this incident is that the entire horrifying sequence was captured live by CCTV cameras.

The car smashing caused minor injury to more than two people throwing them flying back inside several feet. Restaurant was not busy when the car crashed into the building therefore the people were saved from a major accident.

The driver is a regular customer at the Surati Farsan Mart and was stopping by to place an order for her daughter’s birthday. She was not hurt but very shaken. She accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes, she could not control it then. When she was asked about the incident, she said that she had no idea why that happened. She felt very awful about everything happened.

She told police that as she pulled into a parking space, her foot accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

San Diego police said that the accident was under investigation, they were unclear if the driver will face any charges.

Amir Eslami was nearby when the crash happened, and he told 10News, “I heard the noise of the tire … immediately broken glass and a scream of the ladies.”

Eslami called 911 and rushed to help the driver.

“She was shocked and she was shaking and staying by her car and she didn’t know what happened,” said Eslami.

San Diego Police Department Lt. Jerry Hara said, “Looks like they probably stepped on a little bit of the gas pedal as well, causing the car to actually go into the restaurant.”

“When I first pulled it out, I was shocked, it was crazy-looking. Luckily, I am surprised nobody was hurt with all of the force of the impact,” said owner Raj Pate

It is unknown if the driver will be cited. Damage to the restaurant is estimated at about $25,000.
