Former Gujarat minister leaves Congress, joins BJP with 1500 supporters

Former MLA, Congress party’s man Govindbhai Parmar today announced to join the BJP with 1500 supporters.
Born in Chikhodra village of Anand district, Govindbhai is in public life since 1975. He started his political career by serving Chikhodara gram panchayat. He was elected MLA from central Gujarat’s Sarsa assembly constituency of Kheda district in 1995. He became junior Agriculture minister in then Shankersinh Vaghela led government in 1997. In 1998 he was re-elected to Gujarat assembly on Congress ticket. Govindbhai is presently a state Congress delegate.
Sarsa seat is presently occupied by Gujarat state NCP(Nationalist Congress Party) Chief Jayant Bosky. Congress party had given support to NCP on this seat as part of election alliance in 2007. Earlier in 2002 this seat was occupied by Shri Jaswantisinhji Solanki of BJP who had defeated Govindbhai, a Congress candidate.
Also today Shri Mangalsinh Gohil, formr MLA of Vadodara rural joined BJP. Shri Gohil is Sarpanch of Vadodara district’s Angadh. He is active in public life since 1980. He was MLA of Vadodara rural in 1990. He was Congress party’s Taluka unit President between 1995 and 2005.
