If there was 'LIKE' button on Twitter, Mayavati would probably click it for Narendra Modi's these couple of tweetsGujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today virtually extended support to BSP leader Mayavati by actually attacking Congress party on BSP election symbol issue. On Congress party’s demand the Election Commission of India has ordered to cover the statues of Mayavati and her party’s election symbol, the elephant on the run of of Uttar Pradesh assembly election.

Modi on twitter today raised a question, “Centre makes bravery-award winning children sit on elephants during 26th January parade. Doesn’t that violate model code of conduct?”

In subsequent tweet, Modi continued and said, “Will Congress ask for elephants to be removed? What will happen to live TV coverage? So ridiculous…”

This was Modi’s first public statement on Uttar Pradesh election where he is going to campaign for BJP in near future.

Modi in recent past tweeted condolence message on West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee’s mother’s death. He visited Chennai and praised Jayalalitha. Now Modi has tweeted something that would be appreciated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayavati.

Recently Mayavati had accused the Election Commission(EC) of buckling under pressure from the Congress, she said following its constitutional responsibility with honesty, the EC should have issued directives to get Congress’ poll symbol and RLD’s symbol ‘handpump’ covered like the statues of elephant.

In a lighter vein, she had also commented that the EC’s order helped her party by providing publicity. “The EC has saved several crores of rupees of the BSP by publicizing me and the elephant, election symbol of the party,” she had said.
