Erica Wilson is known as America’s First Lady of stitchery. She has given seventeen books and two television series seen on PBS in the US and on the BBC in England and Australia.
She has made her shop in Nantucket, a Mecca for needlework enthusiasts.
Here in this video, Erica Wilson talks about Kutch’s mirror work embroidery.
“It adds sparkle to your needlework project with Kutch embroidery”, says Erica while describing the Kutch mirror work embroidery.
Erica Wilson in this video masterfully demonstrates the complex stitches required including double chain stitch and what she calls oriental or braided stitch.
It should be mentioned that the Gujarat Tourism is going to promote Kutchi embroidery in big way in coming time. Shri Amitabh Bachchan, brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism has done a TV advertisement promoting Gujarat’s handicraft in Kutch recently.
