Gandhinagar, 23 February, 2012
Gujarat BJP today said that today’s Congress rally in Gandhinagar was a big fiasco. The BJP statement issued in the evening said that Congress leaders were working day and night to make this rally successful, but ultimate result was fiasco and nothing else.
National vice president of BJP Shri Parshottam Rupala and Gujarat BJP spokesperson Shri IK Jadeja said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Gujarat has achieved consistent 11% growth in agri sector which is much higher than the national agri growth rate that has been stalled at 2.5% for a long time.
The said, even country’s planning commission(whose head is the Prime Minister) has accepted and appreciated remarkable growth of agriculture in Gujarat. Gujarat has in fact become a role model for the country in the area of agriculture.
BJP leaders said, “farmers are direct beneficiary of Gujarat’s development. BJP government has given Rs 18 lakh per acre to farmers while acquiring a farming land for public good. On the contrary the Congress led central government has taken the land of farmers giving them a negligible amount on national highway of Vadodara-Bharuch-Surat.”
“who actually created the problem of dark zone? It was Congress regime under which the water from the womb of earth was pulled out completely out of control,” they said.
“When farmers were seeking water, the Congress governments had given shocks to the farmers for agri power. Why farmers have to commit suicide in Congress governed states?” BJP statement raised a question.
The statement further said, “the government in centre banned Cotton export, imposed export duty on cotton, and pushed lakhs of farmers into crore of rupees loses. The Congress government in centre has implied export duty on cotton export while giving subsidy on mutton export. Why Congress is silent on this issue? When Cotton export faced ban where were these Congress leaders?”
“If Congress has even slightest good feeling for farmers, the party should give exemption to cooperative banking institutions of farmers and agri markets from income tax. It is Congress govt that has implied such tax,” state BJP statement said.
Meanwhile, speaking on Congress rally, Gujarat government spokesperson minister Shri Jaynarayan Vyas said, “the Congress leaders were trying to enter into an area that was prohibited for rally and gathering while assembly is in session. They wanted to do something for which they were not permitted. This was Congress’s show of strength in connection with Mansa by-election, but its fiasco has only given further depression to Congress.”
