BJP protests against Doordarshan Kendra Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, 25 February, 2012

BJP today staged dharna in front of Doordarshan kendra in Ahmedabad agitating against political misuse. A memorandum in this regard was submitted to Director of Doordarshan kendra by a group of BJP Legal cell workers led by Legal cell convener Shri JJ Patel.

BJP in a statement said, “For last four-five years, it seems that Doordarshan kendra has become Congress party’s news medium. Programmes of Congress party are given more weightage and time. Doordarshan is acting against the people of Gujarat with anti-Gujarat mentality. While news media from across the world take note of Gujarat’s development, Doordarshan kendra doesn’t even mention it. Gujarat BJP’s legal cell had sought information as per the RTI act on 1st of February 2012 covering 28 points, but Doordarshan is intentionally avoiding giving any reply.”

The statement further said, “Doordarshan kendra is not interested in the issues of society in general, but it is interested only in showing Congress party’s programmes. Legal cell has taken a decision to go to court in forthcoming days against Doordarshan’s this mentality. Also more intense programmes will be given against such tactics of Doordarshan kendra.”
