HC refuses to stay proceeding against Sanjiv Bhatt in 1990 murder case

The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday refused to stay proceedings against suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt in a 1990 murder case which resulted in death of one person in Jamnagar.
This means the trial court can now go ahead with framing of charges against Bhatt and six other policemen.
HC however issued notice to the state govt on Bhatt’s plea challenging the Jamnagar court’s decision to reject his plea to condone the delay in filing a revision applications in this case. The govt has been asked to file reply by March 6.
