Leader of opposition Shaktisinh Gohil has been suspended from the assembly house for not obeying the Speaker’s ruling. Gohil has been suspended till the end of the session.
Today in morning session of assembly, minister of state for Law proposed that Gohil be named for not obeying Speaker’s ruling and insulting the house. When majority members of the house okayed this, the speaker named Shaktisinh Gohil and suspended him till the end of the session or till the time he apologize.
Reacting to this Gohil said that his party MLAs will continue to attend the session, and he would continue to guide them sitting in party office in assembly complex throughout the session.
If Gohil is ready to apologize the house, he can return to the assembly session, but it seems he would not easily give up on this issue.
The leader of opposition was refusing to apologize for last three days, even after Speaker’s ruling to do so.
For last three days, the Gujarat assembly was witnessing heat on this issue, resulting into frequent adjournments on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday during the question answer hour, Gohil reacted to minister Dilip Sanghani’s remark and said that ‘you have a partnership with Adani’.
On this, Sanghani challenged Gohil to prove this allegation.
Sanghani raised point of order against a personal and baseless allegation made by Gohil.
Sanghani said, “either Shaktisinh should apologize before the house for baseless and personal allegation, or if he proves the allegation, I am ready to resign from my post”.
The Speaker studied the record and later in his ruling as per the rule no. 37 asked Gohil to apologize, but Gohil refused to do so saying that his allegation was general and not personal and there was no such rule under which the Speaker could ask him to apologize.
Yesterday a group of 19 Congress MLAs proposed the removal of Gujarat Speaker Ganpat Vasava over his ruling.
