Gandhinagar district police has given negative opinion on Gujarat Congress’s application seeking permission to organize a protest rally in capital on 12th of March.
Gujarat Congress had submitted an application before the district police seeking permission to organize a rally in Gandhinagar on 12 March to protest against suspension of leader of opposition from ongoing budget session.
However district police has turned down Congress party’s application, taking three major issues in consideration; (1) Ther’s code of conduct effective in entire Gandhinagar and Mehsana districts in view of Mansa by-election which is scheduled to take place this month, (2) Std 10th and 12th board exams are going on in the state, and (3) Assembly session is on in Gandhinagar.
Gujarat Congress has already announced that the rally will begin from Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad and end at Gujarat Assembly.
Gujarat Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela has threatened to gherao the assembly house after the rally.
However, looking at today’s opinion of local police, it is almost certain that the rally will not be permitted.
This may result into a situation of clash between police and Congress workers on 12th at some point on Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar highway. This may also result in to group arrests of Congress workers on way to rally, by police in various district during the night of 11th.
