Nanavati Commission, probing the 2002 Gujarat riots, has got another extension. This is going to be the 18th extension since it was set up in 2002. The term of the probe panel has now been extended by the Gujarat government till 31 December. The commission comprising retired Justice K G Shah of the Gujarat High Court was appointed on 6 March, 2002 to probe the post-Godhra riots. Justice Mehta was appointed after the death of Justice Shah in 2008. The Commission in its interim report in 2008 said that the incident was a pre-planned conspiracy and not an accident.
