Tokyo/Ahmedabad, 23 July 2012

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in his address to Japanese investors in Tokyo today said that the state is planning two Japanese Special Investment Zone(SEZ) where Japanese would feel at home.

“We are working in the direction of setting up two Japanese SEZ. We have identified two places in this regard. One would come up at Dahej where under the leadership of Hitachi, the largest desalination plant of Asia is being set up. We want to make a mini-Japan in Gujarat. The other SEZ focused at Japan will come up near the Maruti Suzuki car manufacturing project,” Shri Modi said adding that the things are being set up in a way that Japanese would feel at home, and will feel out house experience.”

Shri Modi said, in recession time, no one wants to shut down his facility. Everyone wants to continue to stay afloat and wants to be competent, and one key to it is low cost manufacturing which would not come only through incentive or low taxation offered, but it will come through various factors like skilled manpower, cheap labor, easily available export facility, the government, and Gujarat is in perfect position.

“We are naturally positioned in such a way that the global market is easily approachable for us. Then India itself is a major market. There are 120 crore people,” he said adding that Gujarat is efficient state where decisions are taken quickly and things are completed before time.

Modi welcomed Japanese investors to feel Gujarat, and welcomed them.

Modi said, “Japan has a strength of experience, Gujarat has a power of enterprise, Japan has technology, Gujarat has a talent to absorb it. Japan has a keenness of discipline, Gujarat has a zeal of performance. I am sure our these strengths together will deliver the best result and a new golden history. We are connected through our cultural heritage, historic events and belief in humanity. We can change not only Asia’s but world’s future together.”
