Ahmedabad, 30 July 2012
The Gujarat High court today granted bail to two of the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case accused – Santram Sharma and Ajay Parmar. These constables have been given a clean chit by the new probe agency stating that there is no evidence against them, and whatever offence they committed, they were just following orders from their superior officers.
In its supplementary charge sheet filed, CBI had requested the court to pass necessary orders for releasing these three accused for lack of enough evidence against them.
The three accused also included suspended PI V A Rathod, who was a witness for the earlier probe agency CID (crime),but later on arraigned in the case as an accused by the Gujarat High Court upon an application by the co-accused. V A Rathod was released on bail by the Supreme Court in March this year.
