Ishrat encounter: One day remand for Tarun Barot, Bharat Patel

Special CBI Court in Ahmedabad today granted one-day remand of suspended DySP Tarun Barot and another cop Bharat Patel in Ishrat Jahan encounter case. CBI in its plea had demanded 14 days remand, however the court sent Barot and Patel to remand only upto Monday noon.
Former deputy superintendent of police Tarun Barot and Bharat Patel, who was posted as an inspector with the special operations group, Gandhinagar were held yesterday. Barot was already lodged in the Nadiad sub-jail for the Sadiq Jamal encounter case of 2003, from where he was picked up. CBI had also arrested IPS GL Singhal and former cop JG Parmar earlier. CBI’s remand plea was rejected in their cases.
