Update: The court has given one-day custody of Asaram Bapu

Jodhpur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph today briefed media on the updates of Asaram Bapu case. Following are the main points of his briefing:

-Asaram was arrested because his defense was unsatisfactory.

-So far only one arrest has taken place, and the second accused is being investigated.

-Doctors have examined Asaram, they say there’s no evidence of him being unwell.

-Asaram Bapu is cooperating with probe.

-So far Asaram has negated all the allegations against him.

-Asaram’s lawyer was not present during interrogations.

-Asaram is taking food and water. He is fit as per medical reports.

-Asaram is being produced in court now, as there’s more to inquire we have demanded two days remand.

-Police will take him to the ashram where the incident took place. We will recreate the crime scene.

-The police has asked for potency test of Asaram.

-We will take all precautions to ensure that there’s no breakdown of law and order.

-If a new fact come to notice, we will get it verified.

-We can’t disclose the kind of evidence we have against Asaram at this point. .

-We have to take Asaram’s version on evidence that we have gathered.
