Please don’t share dais with Gujarat Guv:NCCL to Rajasthan CJ

Ahmedabad, 28 September 2013

The president of National Council for Civil Liberties(NCCL) has urged the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court, Amitabh Roy, to not share the dais with Gujarat Governor Dr. Kamla Beniwal, as she is involved in Rs. 600 crore land scam.

The Chief Justice was to attend a programme organized by the retired judges association in Jaipur as a special guest. Gujarat Governor Dr. Kamla Beniwal was Chief guest of this function.

NCCL informed the Chief Justice that the Registrar co-operative socieries, Jaipur in his order dated 2 May 2012 directly blamed Dr. Kamla for various irregularities pertaining to Rs. 600 crore land scam involving Kisan Samuhik Krishi Sahkari Samiti Limited(KSKSSL) of which Dr. Kamla is an executive member.

“Further a complaint no-102/2011, has been filed in the court of senior civil judge, Jaipur against the members of the KSKSSL, in which on 16th September, 2013, the court took a serious note when informed that the case files are missing. The court issued a show cause notice to the court clerk and directed him to put up the files on 24 September 2013. A PIL against the illegal allotment of govt land to KSKSSL is also filed on 5th September 2013, in the High Court at Jaipur in which Dr. Kamla Beniwal has been named as main conspirator. This PIL will be heard by your lordship,” the letter further reads.

“In these circumstances, participation in this program and sharing the dais with Dr. Kamla against whom the cases are pending in the court of law, will not only give a wrong message to the lower courts, but also to the general public against the judiciary, which is second to not,” it said.
