Ahmedabad, 10 November 2013
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Reliable Hospital and Medical Research Institute, run by a Muslim Trust, at Rojwa in the newly constituted Galteshwar taluka in Kheda district to serve the region around Balasinor.
The building has been built on a 22-acre plot adjoining the National Highway. Its capacity is proposed to be increased from 50-bed at present to 500-bed modern healthcare project.
Addressing a large gathering of Muslim families assembled from different parts of India and abroad for the occasion, Mr. Modi hailed the resolve of the Chairman of the Trust Abdul Rashid Yusufbhai Shaikh to serve the patients.
He said that Gujarat Government had launched the 108 Mobile Emergency Service free-of-cost as it saved thousands of peoples’ life, including expecting mothers and newborns, particularly in the rural areas. Similarly, he said, the Chiranjeevi Yojna has reduced maternal and infant mortality rate with the co-operation of the medical fraternity. The safe delivery practice has reached 80-85 percent. Smart Cards have been issued under the Chief Minister’s Amritam Yojna for treatment of the BPL families in dreaded diseases up to Rs.2-lakh. The government has freed Gujarat from water-borne diseases. No polio case has been reported in the state for the last seven years. Gujarat also runs free medical test for school children.
Mr. Modi said that Gujarat Government has not only accorded priority to the concern for healthcare of the poor, but it also encouraged growth of the tradition of charitable hospitals in the state. The government’s latest priority is ‘health assurance’ and not just ‘health insurance’, in the same lines as providing pure air, pure CNG for transport, potable water through Narmada canal-linked pipelines and fortified meals.
He regretted that even though Gujarat leads in the nation in the matter of blood, eye and cadaver donation, the state’s adversaries spare no chance to malign the state.
Youth Services and Cultural Affairs Minister Ramanlal Vora, who is also Guardian Minister of Kheda District, said the levels of education, health and social security in a state are the three prerequisites of development. MLA Devusinh Chauhan said that Mr. Narendra Modi has emerged as the true saviour of Muslims, keeping Gujarat free from any communal riot during the last 12 years.
Reciprocating the gesture, Mr. Shaikh, an ex-Serviceman, injured in the service of the nation, said that while his mother died of blood cancer and father of paralysis, he resolved to impart medical education to his children to serve the patients in critical healthcare.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included MP Prabhatsinh Chauhanm MLA Jethabhai Bharwad, District Panchayat President Jayanti Sodha, Vice-President Kanubhai Dabhi, Kamiat Ulema-e-Hind Vice-President Mukti Abdul Razaq, prominent citizens, chairmen of statutory corporations, office-bearers, ex-Ministers and e-MLAs, District Collector Shalini Agrawal, DDO Sandip Kumar, among others.
