Patan gets Cancer Hospital run by Trust
November 01, 2026
Patan, 1st November 2026: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel attended the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Janata Cancer Hospital in Patan and lauded the spirit of service demonstrated by the donors and trustees who contributed to its establishment.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Patan is a major healthcare centre in North Gujarat. However, the region previously lacked specialised cancer treatment facilities. With the launch of this hospital, the gap has been addressed, enabling residents of Patan and neighbouring areas to receive quality cancer treatment close to home.
Expressing concern over changing lifestyles and the diseases associated with them, the Chief Minister referred to the traditional saying, “Stretch your legs only as far as your blanket allows.” He observed that in today’s materialistic era, lifestyle-related conditions such as mental stress, diabetes and high blood pressure are increasing. The prevalence of addictions and tobacco consumption is also rising.
Dr. Pramodbhai Patel, Managing Trustee of the institution, said that Janata Hospital, operated by Jeevan Jyot Charitable Trust in Patan, has achieved several milestones in the healthcare sector.
So far, the hospital has provided more than 15 lakh outpatient department (OPD) consultations, treated over 1.50 lakh inpatients (IPD) and performed more than one lakh successful surgeries.
The hospital has also provided over 1.50 lakh CT scans, more than 50,000 MRI scans, over 15,000 angiographies and more than 2,000 angioplasties.
Janata Hospital has consistently been at the forefront of providing advanced healthcare services that were previously unavailable in North Gujarat, including dialysis, intensive care units (ICU), catheterisation laboratories (Cath Lab) and neurosurgery.
With the generous and continued support of donors, the hospital is now launching a state-of-the-art cancer hospital. A Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine for radiotherapy has been procured at an estimated cost of approximately ₹22 crore.
The hospital will also offer PET Scan facilities, a diagnostic service previously unavailable in North Gujarat, for which patients had to travel to Ahmedabad. The PET Scan test will be provided completely free of charge to Ayushman Bharat cardholders.
The trustees and donors are also fully committed to introducing several super-speciality services on the hospital campus in the coming years, including bone marrow transplantation, kidney transplantation, robotic surgery and cardiac surgery—facilities that are not yet available in North Gujarat.
