Ahmedabad, 20 November 2013
Three days ahead of Atif Aslam’s concert in Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel stadium, a small group of Bajrand dal workers organized a protest programme outside the stadium. Police detained them and took to police station without using any force.
Atif Aslam is Pakistani singer. A group of Bajrang Dal workers opposes Aslam’s concert in connection with Pakistan’s terror activities against India.
According to Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) city unit president Bachubhai Ladva, Atif Aslam is friend of India’s most wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim. Ladva had nothing to support this claim.
VHP and Bajrang Dal want BJP-ruled Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) to cancel the allotment of Sardar Patel stadium to organizers of Atif Aslam night. However BJP Councillor and chairman of Standing committee of AMC believes that AMC has just given stadium on rent, it is Police Commissioner who decides whether to give permission to hold a programme or not.
Atif Aslam is very popular Pakistani singer who has given voice to some of the most popular Bollywood songs in recent past. His concert was earlier organized on 18 November 2011 in Ahmedabad.
