Dahej attracts Rs 3,000 cr investment in plastic sector

About 150 MSME plastic manufacturing companies have booked plots to set up their units in the 200 acres allotted by the State Government at upcoming plastic park at Dahej in Bharuch district of Gujarat. They would invest nearly Rs 3,000 crore. These details were shared by Raju Desai, Chairman, Plastivision India 2013 during his interaction with media persons in Ahmedabad today. Some of the units are likely to be functional in 2015.
Gujarat contributes 70% to India’s plastics raw material production and also 70% of machines used in this industry. The state employs about one lakh people in 10,000 plastic units, 40% of these being recycling units.
Another plastic park, planned to be set up in 150 acres at Sanand in Ahmedabad district, once the government allots land, is expected to attract an investment of nearly Rs 2,000 crore.
