Modi’s last campaign rally in Delhi ahead of assembly polls(Video)

New Delhi, 1 December 2013

Addressing a rally at Dakshinipuri area in South Delhi ahead of December 4 Assembly elections, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today for the first time hit out at Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party, saying they were “backstabbers” who ditched a man like Anna Hazare.

Addressing BJP election meetings in the capital, Modi without naming Kejriwal or his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), cautioned the people against voting for “newcomers”.

“Many years, after the JP movement, Anna Hazare blew the bugle against corruption. We were hopeful that people would get rid of corruption.

“But, some people back-stabbed such a sacred movement of Anna Hazare for their own personal political aspirations and the whole agitation came to an end,” Modi said.

The Gujarat Chief Minister said Congress displays one hand (its symbol) but loots with both hands while for the newcomers it seems even two hands are not enough.

“They are all for sweeping everything with the broom (AAP’s election symbol),” Modi said.

Dakshinipuri rally place was the same venue where Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had addressed a rally on November 17 which witnessed a low turnout.

Some of the pointers from his speech:

In reference to CBI threats: “Congress people, hear it from me. You can browbeat Mulayam, You can browbeat Mayawati, but you can’t browbeat Modi, who comes from the land of Sardar Patel.

Nirbhaya gang rape: “I appeal to the people of Delhi. Don’t miss the opportunity to vote. Before you go to vote, don’t forget Nirbhaya, don’t forget those who made Delhi the rape capital. Don’t forget the police which used water cannons against protesters after Nirbhaya’s gangrape.

Midnight attack on Ramdev protest camp: “Don’t forget the Delhi police which lathicharged Ramdev and his sleeping supporters at dead of night and killed an old woman. It was worse than Jallianwala Bagh

Robert Vadra issue: “Don’t forget those who grabbed land in Gurgaon and their in-laws.

Bansals: “Don’t forget the mama-bhanja duo who looted the Railways. Hear the Delhi Sultanate! The more you will throw mud at us, the more the Lotus will bloom.

Corruption: “Congress has institutionalized corruption from A to Z. Their chief minister grabbed the flat meant for Army widows in Adarsh building for his mother-in-law.

Housing: “Congress cheated the people of Delhi by selling forms in the name of Rajiv Gandhi to give flats. They tried the same thing in Gujarat, but the people of Gujarat were wiser, they asked where the land was, who the contractor was, and did not fall into their trap.

Corruption: “Rajiv Gandhi once said, outof Rs 1 sent from the Centre, only 15 paise reach the people. People now want to know what is that Hand which converts a rupee into 15 paise. Congress shows a single hand to seek vote, but loots with both hands.

BRTS: “The BRT experiment failed in Delhi because of corruption, but the BRT in Ahmedabad got an award from UN.

National security: “Widows of army jawans killed near LoC want reply from Manmohan Singh, but here they serve chicken to the Pak president. They say it was protocol. Let the government say, it chopping off the heads of jawans is also part of protocol?”
