Call for Morbi bandh on Tuesday, chances of breakthrough before that

Morbi, 6 December 2013

Various business associations of Morbi town have taken a decision to go on one day strike on Tuesday. The decision has been taken to support ongoing indefinite strike of ceramic units. On Thursday, ceramic units of Than and Surendranagar also joined indefinite strike. Than-Surendranagar ceramic association, Federation of ceramic and Panchal Association have made representations before the state government on issues of ceramic industries.

Ceramic industry in Morbi has put various demands before centre and state governments. Their agitation enters 10th day today.

When local BJP MLA and minister are mediating between the government and ceramic unit owners, all eyes are on minister Saurabh Patel who was in Bangalore yesterday for Statue of Unity related function. Unit owners see Saurabh Patel as a final decision maker in this issue and waiting for some assurance from him. Unit owners believe that on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, BJP’s victory in the state elections will attract all limelight, therefore any bargain on their demands should be welcomed before that, or otherwise they will need to close their units for longer time next week.

Meanwhile Congress has started fishing in favorable ground. BJP is of course cautious about it.
