Gandhinagar, 17 December 2013
Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today refused to meet the visiting USA delegation in solidarity with the nation.
Modi on twitter said: Refused to meet the visiting USA delegation in solidarity with our nation, protesting ill-treatment meted to our lady diplomat in USA.
A eleven member strong US delegation is on two days visit to Gujarat. It was scheduled to meet Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
Modi’s protest is in connection with the 1999-batch IFS officer Devyani Khobragade’s arrest in America on Thursday as she was dropping her daughter to school. She was handcuffed in public on visa fraud charges before being released on a USD 250,000 bond after pleading not guilty.
