Ahmedabad, 27 December 2013
Gujarat government run company GSPC has filed contempt plea against Government of India run Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) for not following the Gujarat High Court order on CNG supply.
Sharing the details on this, Gujarat minister Shri Saurabh Patel said, “on 18 December, GAIL signed agreement with GSPC for supply of daily 0.5837 MMSCMD gas at Dahej. But on the first day itself, GAIL has supplied 0.4389 MMSCMD gas valued 4.2$ per MMBTU through Administered Price Mechanism instead of 0.5132 MMSCMD.
GAIL had to supply 0.0705 MMSCMD Panna Mukta Tapi gas which is considered costlier and valued at 5.70$ per MMBTS, but the supply made is 0.929 MMSCMD. Out of pre-decided 0.5837 MMSCMD gas, Gujarat is provided only 0.5318 MMSCMD gas which is 9% less.
GSPC cut the price of gas as per the agreement signed with GAIL, but GAIL is now not supplying enough gas, and therefore GSPC is facing major economic loss.
Instead of cheaper domestic APM gas, the centre is supplying PMT gas. The centre is showing its mentality to keep Gujarat people suffering.
