Ahmedabad, 27 February 2014
The month of March is coming. And following are some of the affairs that shall be in news.
-There’s a Gujarati proverb ‘Shiv Shiv karti thandi jaay‘ which means season of winter departs with Shiv Ratri(this year on 27 February). The month of March will not only see political heat but heat of the Sun too. Political rallies in day time will be tougher to arrange compared to winter, but late evening-time campaign rallies will attract huge crowd everywhere.
-Gujarat Cheif Minister and BJP prime ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi will address Vijay Shankhanad Maha rally in Lucknow on 2nd March. Shri Modi will also address several rallies in Bihar.
-The Election Commission of India(ECI) is likely to announce schedule of Lok Sabha general elections 2014 in first week of March. Model Code of Conduct will be in force immediately after the announcement. Elections of Lok Sabha are likely to be held in six to seven phases during first week of April and third week of May. After three months, on this date the new government will be formed.
-Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal will be on Gujarat visit on 8 March. Kejriwal-led party has failed to show its presence in Gujarat so far. The party which runs like a small voluntary organization is backed by handful of foreign funded NGOs and section of media only in Gujarat. If some common people don’t turn up due to curiosity factor, AAP will face tough time to arrange a crowd of even a few thousand people. In that case indoor hall is one option. The other option is to create hype through media and utilizing the NGO network.
-Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will be in Gujarat again next month. He will address party’s maha sammelan at Balasinor in central Gujarat on 11 March. Rahul Gandhi earlier addressed party’s maha sammelan at Bardoli in south Gujarat. Bardoli and adjoining Valsad Lok Sabha seats have sitting Congress MPs. Congress wants to retain these seats. Similarly Congress has its three sitting MPs in central Gujarat at Dahod, Kheda and Anand. Congress also wants to regain Chhota Udepur seat in central Gujarat which it thinks winnable with some extra efforts. Gujarat Congress president and leader of opposition both were in Delhi on Wednesday to finalized the details of proposed march rally.
-Dates of more campaign rallies will be decided as per the phase-wise election schedule decided by the Election Commission of India.
-Amitabh Bachchan will be in Gujarat in second week of March to shoot for Gujarat Tourism’s Khushboo Gujarat Ki ad campaign. Shri Bachchan is likely to shoot at Vadodara palace and Champaner-Pavagadh.
-Holi and Dhuleti will come on 16-17 March while new year of Maharashtrian families ‘Gudi Padvo’ will beon 31st of March.
