Ahmedabad, 14 March 2014
For last few years, this happens in every election in Gujarat. The state leader of Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) makes an announcement to contest on each seat in media. State Congress feels threatened, as NCP may cut Congress votes. Then Ahmed Patel meets Praful Patel. Alliance is formed and NCP gets a few seats to contest.
It has happened again this time. State NCP leader Jayant Patel (Bosky) has given TV interview declaring NCP’s plan to contest all 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat. He has declared that he himself would fight Anand Lok Sabha seat.
In response to this, Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia today clarified that any decision on seat sharing with Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) will be taken as per the A K Antony committee report. Final decision on seat sharing is taken as per the local equations and Congress party’s state organization. The Congress leadership will take decision on seat sharing as per the AK Antony committee report in forthcoming days. NCP has been a partner of Congress in UPA-1 and UPA-2.
It should be noted that NCP wants its MLA Kandhal Jadeja to fight Porbandar Lok Sabha seat and wants Congress to support him.
