'Kanjibhai maani gayaa' is Gujarat BJP's headline of the day

Valsad, 29 March 2014

The Gujarat BJP has successfully resolved its Valsad Lok Sabha seat crisis at this point.

Veteran district leader Kanjibhai Patel who was upset with party for giving ticket to KC Patel on Valsad seat has now issued a statement to join the greater cause of making Narendrabhai PM.

Kanjibhai who was denied ticket, earlier threatened to contest as independent candidate to defeat BJP’s KC Patel. Kanjibhai had started holding village level meetings to defeat KC Patel.

Kanjibhai in his written statement issued today said: after frank talk with Narendrabhai I have taken decision to work for party outside the Valsad Lok Sabha seat area.

Kanjibhai had earlier alleged that KC Patel had worked against his brother and BJP Lok Sabha candidate DC Patel in year 2009 elections. Kanjibhai had also questioned KC Patel’s loyalty as he had left the BJP with Shankersinh Vaghela in 1990s. Kanjibhai had alleged that KC was given ticket due to influence of Vapi based industrial house. Kanjibhai was unhappy with party because he was not heard by party leadership even after his repeated attempts when decision on Valsad ticket allotment was in process in Gandhinagar.

It should be mentioned that KC Patel’s brother and year 2009 Lok Sabha candidate of BJP DC Patel has also lately joined KC Patel’s campaign this week after initial reluctance. Both KC Patel and DC Patel consider Kanjibhai as their political Guru.

Valsad Lok Sabha seat is with Congress for last two terms. BJP has history of victory on this seat in the past and wants to regain this seat. It is popularly believes that the party that wins Valsad Lok Sabha seat gets power in centre.

Kanjibhai’s statement:Rough translation of Gujarati statement

Former minister/ MP Shri Kanjibhai Patel in a statement says that during last one week activities regarding Lok Sabha elections he evoked mix response from his supporters, and therefore he has dropped the idea of contesting as independent or from other party.

Regarding my struggle for survival in party, I met Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai and centre/state leadership and discussed the neglect I’m facing in party. After both sides expressed regrets( I regretted for my activities), I took decision to join the campaign in areas other than Valsad.

When entire nation is all set to install our Narendrabhai as PM, it is a call of the hour that I should start working in his support.
