Police complaint against Shaktisinh filed in Sola police station

Ahmedabad, 10 May, 2014

A complaint has been filed against Congress party’s national spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil in Ahmedabad’s Sola police station.

A complaint has been filed for Shaktisinh’s recent remarks on Narendra Modi’s caste.

Ahead of last phase of Lok Sabha elections, Shaktisinh alleged that Modi doesn’t belong to backward class and his caste was included in ‘other backward class’ category during BJP-led government’s rule.

However the state government revealed that Modi’s caste was included in ‘Other Backward Class(OBC)’ by Congress government in Gujarat in 1994. The Gujarat government also released relevant documents to support their claim.

Details of complaint:

The complaint has been filed by one 38-year-old Shailesh Ramanlal Modi who is part of Modh Ghanchi community. Shailesh Modi resides in Thaltej area of Ahmedabad.

Shailesh Modi has filed complaint under section 171(g), 171(chh), 171(J), 153(K), CRPC section 151 and PRA Act 1951 section 125.

Shailesh Modi in his complaint alleges that Shaktisinh Gohil during his press conference insulted entire Modh Ghanchi community for his personal political gain. According to what Gohil said, some politicians played tricks for OBC coverage of Modh Ghanchi community. He has stated that all Modh Ghanchis take benefit of being OBC while they are not OBC. Shaktisinh’s statements generate casteism. Shaktisinh’s remarks are available on his website.
