Gujarat cadre IAS Rajesh Kishore to head NHRC

Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare in the Gujarat Government Rajesh Kishore, 1980-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, has been appointed as Secretary General of the National Human Rights Commission ( NHRC).
Kishore has headed the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority as it’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from 2005 to 2009. He is presently the Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare in the Gujarat Government since 2009.
The order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 26 says Kishore’s appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet ( ACC) in the rank and pay of Secretary.
Kishore could have a tenure till next May when he superannuates from service. He last served in the Centre nearly two decades back when he was deputy secretary in Ministry of Human resource development in 1995.
