Ahmedabad, 10 July, 2014
Next hearing on anticipatory bail plea of controversial NGO operator Teesta Setalvad and her husband Javed Anand in connection with the Gulbarg Society fund embezzlement case will take place on 5 August in the Gujarat High Court.
Teesta, Javed and other accused sought more time to file their reply following Ahmedabad Police Crime Branch’s affidavit informing the court that Teesta/Javed run Sabrang Trust’s accounts were not audited for six years.
According to earlier afidavit of Crime Branch, Ms. Setalvad had allegedly used the foreign funds meant for riot victims for personal use including purchase of grocery items, visit to cinema, beauty-parlor services etc.
Teesta and her husband Javed were denied anticipatory bail in lower court. They challenged the verdict in High Court where the case is going on.
