Single ticket for BRTS and local bus journey in Surat from 15th August

Surat, 14 August 2014
Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) has taken an important decision to connect the local city bus service with Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) from 15 August. This will provide double journey in single ticket.
BRTS project was kicked off in Surat on last 26 January. Total 13,500 passengers had used the facility in first month.
Thanks to S-Connect, passengers will get BRTS and connecting city bus service at every 6-8 minute interval. This will save their time. In city link service, top up of Rs. 25 costs Rs. 50 at present, but from 15 August onwards passengers will get Rs. 50 top up for Rs. 50.
It should be mentioned that in Ahmedabad, one has to take one ticket for BRTS bus and another ticket for connecting AMTS bus journey. On many routes, AMTS and BRTS buses run on same road. Recently the AMTS tried to rationalize the routes, but it evoked massive protest by AMTS users. Sooner or later, other cities too will need to connect two different local bus services through single ticket formula.
