Gujarat government’s note on Vadodara flood and post-flood situation(Video)

In a statement, the state government today said that the government had closed Ajwa gates to prevent flood in Vadodara, but due to high level of water in Dhadhar river, and high tide in Arabian sea, the level of water didn’t come down in normal speed.

The state government in a note further said that today Vishwamitri’s level came down to 29 ft, following which massive cleaning drive has been kicked off in city which is monitored by the state government.

The state government in its note said that state government and local administration is working on war foot basis to restore drinking water supply, sanitation, healthcare and other services.

Total 4,800 sweepers are involved in cleaning task including 3,500 workers of Vadodara Municipal Corporation, 1000 temporary workers and 300 workers sent from Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations. In each ward of the city, 200 to 450 sweepers are performing their duty. Moreover 30 JCB, 30 dumpers, 68 tractor trollies, 12 dozers are on duty. 136 containers are moving across the city for door-to-door garbage collection .10 big size dewatering pumps are on task. 20 water tankers are moved. 5 lakh tablets for chlorination of drinking water are distributed. 100 fogging machines and 10 power spraying machines are employed on task. Till yesterday 10070 people were in relief camps. Of them 3459 were in relief camp today. Others have returned to their homes. State government has provided three-time meal and pure drinking water to them and distributed 3 lakh food packets. VMC’s 22 and state government’s 15 medical teams are on duty with their medical vans.

On 10 September, 309 transformers were in water. They were disconnected to prevent people from electric shock. 229 transformers were restarted today. 2000 electricity meters turned faulty due to water. of the 1200 are changed, others are being changed.
