Bakra Eid: Clash between butchers and Police in Ahmedabad over cows

Ahead of Bakra Eid, on Friday night a group of butchers attacked on police when police tried to stop a truck carrying calves for illegal slaughter.

The incident took place late in the night on Friday night when police tried to stopped a truck carrying cows for illegal slaughter near Shahpur Bahai center. The butchers instead of obeying police’s order, tried to run over two police men at around 1.00 am.

Later police team followed the truck. When police successfully stopped the truck at Kuresh chowk,a group of three dozen local Muslims started pelting stones on police. In this chaos, butchers deserted the truck and escaped. Police recovered 14 calves from truck and sent them to Gau shala. Two police men Mehboobbhai and Ranchhodbhai were injured in this incident. They were treated in VS hospital. Four persons involved in stone pelting are arrested by police. They are Mohammad Hanif along with Nasir Shaikh, Ghulam Waris Mohammad Qureshi and Mohammad Zaid Qureshi.

Rapid Action Force and police jawans were deployed in Shahpur, Mirzapur areas.

In another incident on Saturday, city crime branch city police crime branch reportedly fired three rounds to stop a truck suspected of carrying cows meant for slaughter. This incident happened near Shahibag under bridge.

Meanwhile a group of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad workers today attempted to move to Muslim populated Dariapur Popatiavad to prevent illegal slaughter of cows. Police detained them without force.


Ghoghamba town observes bandh

Central Gujarat’s Ghoghamba town observed total bandh against kidnap of a Hindu youth by Muslim butchers.

According to VHP, one Tapendra Solanki was returning from Garba venue late in the night from Halol with his over a dozen friends. At around 4.30 am, the youths spotted a truck carrying cows near Kankodakui. One jeep was seen doing piloting job for that truck. There were four persons in piloting jeep. They came out with weapons and sticks and pulled Tapendra inside the jeep. Tapendra was badly beaten up in moving jeep. He was warned that he should discontinue the job of protecting cows.

When this jeep carrying Tapendra reached Heritage hotel, a team of Halol police took hold of it. Out of four persons in car, three escaped while one Mohsin was caught.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal gave a call of strike in Ghoghamba against this incident. The bandh call evoked total response.
