Rajkot, 17 October 2014
Dirty habit of throwing plastic after consuming tobacco pan, masala chokes drainage and causes filth. Plastic is also harmful for environment.
Rajkot Municipal Corporation(RMC) had in past banned the use of plastic paper at pan shops but failed to take any action against violation. With new commissioner Vijay Nehra in place, the RMC has revived its earlier notification and asked each pan shop, store to comply and get reregistration under food act.
If they don’t comply, the teams of food and solid waste departments will start taking actions by slapping fine. RMC plans to conduct checking at 100 shops per day to ensure that plastic is not used anymore.
Each pan shop will also need to comply and put dustbin. They will need to ensure that no dirt is found outside dustbin.
