Rajkot Liquor Party: Nine Liquor Bottles were brought from Rajasthan

Rajkot: Decora Group Managing Director Chirag Patel has reportedly told police that he brought nine bottles of liquor from Rajasthan for a birthday party organised at Hotel Saraza on Kalavad Road in Rajkot. The party was raided by police on Saturday night.

Police detained 76 persons, including 33 women, during the operation. Following breathalyser tests, 38 persons were arrested on suspicion of having consumed alcohol. Medical examinations of the remaining detained persons are being conducted, and police will decide on further action based on the findings.

During questioning, Chirag Patel reportedly told investigators that he had arranged nine bottles of liquor from Rajasthan for the party, which was organised ahead of his birthday. His cousin, Gaurav Haribhai Patel, allegedly brought two additional bottles to the venue. Police seized 11 liquor bottles, both empty and filled, during the raid.

Those detained included Manish Vallabhbhai Patel, a relative of an MLA, RCC Bank director Janil Narendrabhai Nathwani and other guests.

Malaviya Nagar police questioned Chirag Patel on Monday as part of the investigation. The probe has been assigned to Police Inspector Kaila following an order by DCP Rakesh Desai, who transferred it from Taluka police station.

The raid also triggered a confrontation between police personnel and media representatives after Taluka police station PI Meghani allegedly grabbed a cameraman by the collar during the operation.

Police are investigating the alleged procurement and possession of liquor, its transportation from Rajasthan into Gujarat, and the circumstances under which it was consumed at the hotel. The investigation will also examine the respective roles of the party organiser and other persons allegedly involved.

Further legal action will be determined based on the medical examination reports and other evidence collected during the investigation. DeshGujarat
