From left+Congress influence, Ahmedabad based educational institute Gujarat Vidyapith will now come under pure influence of Congress ideology.
The trustee mandal of Gujarat Vidyapith today met and decided to invite Saurashtra University professor and Congress party worker Anamik Shah to become the new vice chancellor.
The incumbent VC Sudarshan Iyengar who brought left+Congress+AAP+NGO influence to this Gandhian institute has served for three terms of three years each.
The three-member search panel that was formed to find Iyengar’s successor had submitted three names to the trustee mandal in a sealed cover in the last of week of October. The cover was opened on Wednesday to finalize the name and Professor Anamik Shah was selected as new Vice Chancellor.
Anamik Shah, professor in chemistry department of Saurashtra University, was appointed as member of publicity committee of Gujarat unit of Congress party in July 2012 ahead of Gujarat assembly general elections. Shah was appointed as member of publicity committee of Gujarat Congress by Congress president Sonia Gandhi herself.
Controversial former Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal(former Congress minister in Rajasthan) had appointed Anamik Shah as Chairman of search committee for appointment of new vice chancellor of Gujarat University in December 2013.
Anamik Shah belongs to a family that has deep rooted connection with Congress party. His uncle Vajubhai Shah was Congress minister. His aunty Jayaben Shah had been active worker of Congress party.
In Sudarshan Iyengar’s time, Gujarat Vidyapith had become a playground for some foreign-funded NGOs and Aam Aadmi Party-left-Naxal-Congress sympathizers. Binayak Sen was called to deliver convocation address, Arvind Kejriwal had presided a book launch function, Shabnam Hashmi used to organize her NGO’s event here, at least one of them in presence of state Congress president Arjun Modhwadia. At least two Congress sympathizer columnists were given post-retirement rehabilitation in Vidyapith utilizing corpus fund, outside the purview of UGC. Iyengar with his mother when trapped in Uttarakhand during flood had directly called Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry to send helicopter, and Mistry had sent a helicopter to airlift him on priority basis.
IT is worth recalling that Iyengar even after third term was continuing as Gujarat Vidyapith Vice Chancellor comfortably. Later the UGC reportedly slapped a third notice to Gujarat Vidyapith asking them to follow the UGC guidelines or the grant which is given to the Vidyapith will be stopped with immediate effect. In the past also the UGC has issued such notice to the Vidyapith as they had failed to comply with the UGC norms over appointment of the vice chancellor and other office-bearers.
