Ahmedabad: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) conducted a surprise inspection at the hostel mess of Gujarat Vidyapith in Ahmedabad, raising concerns over the quality and safety of food served to students.
During the inspection, described by ABVP as a “Student’s Raid”, activists checked various food items used in the mess, including their quality, packaging and expiry dates.
The inspection team found expired food items, following which ABVP activists raised concerns over food safety and student health.
The student organisation has demanded that Gujarat Vidyapith authorities take appropriate action and introduce regular checks of food items and mess operations to prevent such lapses.
ABVP said that food served to students should meet required quality and safety standards and that the health and safety of students should not be compromised. DeshGujarat
